About Us
Initworx Consulting Inc. was born to service the infrastructure needs of corporate and government organizations in the Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada area. Through our proven experience managing remote data centers, we're expanding to offer services wherever our customers need our skills.
Our Story
In the early 2000's, a US based software company with offices in Vancouver had a successful and profitable online business. This online presence was the life blood of the company, but they struggled with availability of their US data centers; customers were leaving.
A small group of Vancouver engineers were tasked with taking ownership of the remote data centers and turning their operations around. Our group of IT professionals reworked the environments, standardizing and stabilizing networks and servers, building in redundant capacity and ensuring scalability and automation that would exceed customer’s peak needs. As the environments began to maintain 99.999 availability, our customers were ecstatic, they could focus on their business because we were managing ours.
Initworx was formed based on those early lessons of success and wide exposure to total systems management. We've carried forward to much larger health care environments of thousands of servers and databases in the province. We've help stabilize and modernize, large, core, clinical systems such as Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM), Cerner and Paris.
Our Big Data customers include BC Hydro's Energy Analytics Solution (EAS) utilizing Greenplum MPP Database clusters to visualize and analyze electrical grid consumption and balance. Initworx designed, deployed and manages BC Hydro's first Hadoop clusters and asssists with daily management of Greenplum.
Initworx is now solely focused on helping customers build and manage Big Data solutions that enable them to analyze and view data in ways traditional systems do not have the capacity for. Big Data environments bring the full range of our experience to bear on a single solution; with their integrated isolated networks, large number of servers per cluster, near storage compute, and shear volume of data, Big Data solutions are literally data centers in a box.
